Two Saffers left, as Sunset becomes a small wave!

The Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) PRIME O’Neill World Cup of Surfing felt like it hit fast-forward today as organizers utilized two surf spots to maximize the waves at hand and ensure that the event will wrap up tomorrow at the peak of the swell. Some surfers battled through three rounds as the heats clicked off two at a time. Head-high waves teamed up with high performance, small wave surfboards that rarely see the light of day this time of year in Hawaii, and the result was a rapid fire of maneuvers and more than 1,000 waves surfed. It’s all in a day’s work at the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing, where the most versatile and consistent performer across all three events will be crowned the annual series champion.

On a day where the organisers had to split the contest in order to get enough heats surfed and Sunset was looking more like the Dairy Bowls, it's not really surprising that two of Durban's best surfers kicked ass in the O'Neill World Cup of surfing. Travis Logie took out a wct heavy heat with his patented back hand hacks -

Jordy Smith was also on song and took his heat, beating North Shore legend and multiple Triple Crown Champion, Sunny Garcia, on the way. The big kid from Durbs just looks so relaxed in the water, he must drive his competitors mad!

Joel Parkinson is still in the hunt for his third Triple Crown in a row, so tonights viewing looks good. They should finish the event tonight and you can check out all the live heats at - O"Neil World Cup of Surfing
