Enter a world of magic and mystery, in my own head, where surfing and snowboarding are considered real jobs! Amazing feats of daring and skill are performed every day - and that's just getting the footage onto film!

Pat Moore flies the open skies at Red Bull Ultra Natural.
Last year it was Supernatural, now the team at Red Bull along with main brain stormer, Travis Rice, present the Ultra Natural. Backcountry terrain mixed with man made saddles, drop offs and jumps with some of the top riders in the world over one day. This event takes riding to another level!
In the end, Austria's Gigi Rüf stood on top of the podium after putting
together a creative run showcasing his unique style, utilizing a variety
of both the natural and man-made features on the mile long course.
Switzerland's Nicolas Müller not only took second place but was also
presented the Best Trick Award with a gigantic mute air over a tree,
sending himself nearly 100-feet down the 45+ degree course.
Rounding
out the podium was Southern California's Bryan Fox, a first-timer at
Red Bull Ultra Natural and a late addition to the event as a wildcard
entry.
It's been a few months now since the Red Bull Supernatural event and I have been patiently waiting for this moment - the full Tv show from the States is now online for you to watch! The most unique and ground breaking Snowboarding event of all time, Supernatural was the brain child of backcountry and Big Air king, Travis Rice. Sit down, grab some Popcorn and prepare to have your mind blown...
While the snowboarders have had their mass market success stories when it comes to film, most notably Travis Rice and his double success with both "That's it, That's All" and "the Art of Flight", the skiing community have had to wait until now for their big movie. Watching the trailer i could not help but draw similarities between Rice's works and this, but having said that, why not use a proven winning formula. That formula being amazing landscape and chopper shots, utilizing Phantom Camera shots throughout and of course a kick ass soundtrack. Quiksilver and Candide Thovex have found the formula and made it work. "Few Words" looks epic in scope and magnitude and I for one cannot wait to watch it.
Quiksilver Presents Candide Thovex's first feature-length film FEW WORDS.
This long anticipated movie has finally become a reality for Candide Thovex , while we take a look back at his youth and early days skiing Candide shows you what it took to get to this point in his career, winning X-games gold's and breaking his back before winning the free-ride world tour. Now embarking on a mission spending 2 winters and summers filming and traveling over the world to get the best conditions possible Matt Pain and crew have captured Candide in his element and the stunning nature surrounding.
Few Words will Premier in October in Paris with a world tour to follow in a city near you.
The coolest event in Snowboarding finally made it onto American Television over the weekend and we can only hope, that somehow the show makes it to SA Screens. In the meantime here is the full web video to salivate over. Supernatural is the brain child of Red Bull and Travis Rice and takes the free riding from their films, such "the Art of Flight" into a terrain area for competition. Enjoy the video...
Travis Rice wins his own contest... (Photo: Red Bull)
Travis Rice, not content with changing how we all film Action Sports and specifically Snowboarding, created the Red Bull Supernatural event. To say it will revolutionize competitive snowboarding would be a grave understatement! Of course, inviting 18 of the top boarders in the world did not count for much, because Travis decided to win his own contest. He is the best, there is no denying it. The bulk of the video footage will only be available after the network special in the States, but here is a taster or 2...
Travis Rice has made a career out of pushing the limits of Snowboarding. (Photo: Red Bull)
No snowboarding event has made me this excited ever! My only dissapointment is that we will not be getting the live broadcast here in South Africa. (You Seppos are a lucky bunch!) Travis Rice, tired of the politics and slow progression of modern competitive snowboarding, has created a giant backcountry snow park, which Red Bull have invited the World's best to come compete on. It is going to be outrageous...
Snowboarding legend Travis Rice spent most of his past winters traveling around the globe in the search of the best natural features to perform his breathtaking snowboarding stunts, as one can witness in his latest movie The Art of Flight. For Red Bull Supernatural it was time to switch the strategy and all the preparation and work for this
unique snowboarding competition was done during the summer time. The outcome is an ultimate backcountry snowboarding course with more than 100 man-made features located at the Baldface Lodge, Nelson, BC. From February 3-8, 18 of the world’s best snowboarders will be able to ride this dream come true during Red Bull Supernatural…
To say I am excited about the imminent release of Travis Rice's new movie, The Art of Flight, would be like saying it would be nice to have my own Island in Sumatra. His previous film, Thats it Thats All, changed the face of Action Sports Cinema forever and Red Bull Media House and Brain Farm have apparently held nothing back in the Production of the Art of Flight.
Making a big budget Cinematic Snowboarding Movie is not easy though, just check out the "Special Features - Making a Snowboard Movie is Easy" short:
