John John Florence is the Electric Candyman

John John slaying giant Cloudbreak. (Photo: Transworld)
Big, small or just plain ludicrous, John John Florence has got all the bases covered. He charges massive tubes, throws the biggest and most progressive airs and is one really nice guy to boot. Make sure you watch till the end for the most crazy angle of this giant tube in Fiji. The footage is all from the Vans Movie, Get-in-Classic Vol 2...

David Gonzalez is Possessed to Skate

This guy is possessed of the power to go large! Some of the rails and launches he tries in this video are simply ridiculous. He also pays the price hard, but always gets up and hits the rail again and again till he nails it. Be inspired today and watch the full movie HERE

The surf session that has changed all the rules! Fiji Freight Trains 2012

They will be calling it the session and the day, that what was possible in paddle surfing, was rewritten. Sound epic and grandiose? Well it was...

Twig, Kelly and John John have called it that and they are the three surfers whose judgement on things ridiculous in surfing, I trust the most. Just watch the video from the water and understand what I am harping on about...

Then back it up with these angles. Your jaw on the ground yet?

Massive Cloubreak Free Surf on Day 6 - Volcom Pro Fiji 2012

Bede Durbidge winning the 1st of only 2 heats surfed on Day 6. After this the Free Surf began... (Photo:ASP)
The massive swell arrived as expected, but the contest only lasted 2 heats, with Bede and Kai Otton winning the heats and moving into Round 3. The ASP made the call to wait for today to start Round 3, which will probably go down at Restaurants. Once the tour had puled out, the hordes of big wave charges were out there, with some of the more core Tour surfers joining the fray in solid 15ft Cloudbreak. Luckily the contest left the live feed running and we got to watch a rare free surf in giant waves. Enjoy the video...

XXL Biggest Wave Nominees 2012

There are some gnarly entries for this year's XXL Biggest Wave category. The two irish entries are definately super big and heavy waves, but neither of them was ridden out. The entries from Spain are both big, but pretty flat and lumpy kind of waves. My vote goes to the Oz entry from Damien Warr. that is a huge wave and he even gets the cover up at the end. Who do you think should take it?

The five nominees for the XXL Biggest Wave category of the 2012 Billabong XXL Global Big Wave Awards are put forth for your analysis: Andrew Cotton at Mullaghmore Head, Garrett McNamara at Nazaré, Axi Muniain at Agiti, Ollie O'Flaherty at Mullaghmore and Damien "Taco" Warr at Cow Bombie. For more details and to view all the still photos see the event website at www.BillabongXXL.com.
