Maverick's Invitational 2013 is Green Light

Past winner, Grant "Twig" Baker, will be charging for the Saffers at Mavericks.
A long range perfect swell is charging towards California and the organizers of the Maverick's Invitational have called the event on for Sunday, January 20th. Surfline, the official forecaster reckon the swell may have some lulls, but will be big and perfect when they come through the peak at Mavs. South Africa has 2 previous winners in Twig and defending champion, Chris Bertish, who won in 2010, the last time the event was run. Frank Solomon is on the alternate list after spending time in California the last few seasons. Great to see legend, Jeff Clarke, back in charge and running his contest again!

Captain Kai's World on www.2ov.fm - Podcast with Twig, Aces n Spades Bar and Greg Illingworth

This week I was joined by Grant "Twig" Baker and Reg MacDonald the owners of new rock bar, Aces n Spades. The bar launches on Friday and as you listen to this podcast you will realize that with these two in charge, the party is going to be rather large and full of Tequila.

Also on the show, live from Newcastle in the UK, was Greg Illingworth, to fill us in on all his BMX exploits from Europe to across the Channel in the USA.

Tyrone Rawlins was in the studio to give us the latest on the AMA Supercross Circuit and to talk about the first 2 rounds of the Billabong Pro in Tahiti.

Enjoy the show.

Jason Hearn's 'The Africa Project' documents the beauty and potential of the African coastline.

For those that missed out on the premiere of The Africa Project, held in Cape Town at the end of last year, you'll be stoked to hear that Jason will be bringing the stoke to a town near you soon.

The Africa Project - Africa's greatest surf film Premiers

Sweet Lord of the surf, I am amped for this movie! Jason Hearn has been working on the project for about 3 years now and I have got to see sporadic pieces of the footage, which have kept me frothing! South Africa's best surfers exploring Africa and SA for waves, to an insane soundtrack and with really good interviews. There is even a short piece on our history as South African surfers with legends like "Oom" John Whitmore.

I even got some shots in the film - look out for the extreme west coast and a certain tube fest on the East Coast with a big rock in the foreground!

Surfers include Jordy Smith, Travis Logie, Royden Bryson, Franky O,  Shaun Holmes, Grant "Twig" Baker and many more...

The Premier is on Friday 25th November, in Cape Town and if you love surfing, the lifestyle or even just adventure, you want to be there!

Venue: Trinity, Green Point
Time: Pre-Drinks 6:30pm - Screening 8:00pm
