Maloof Money Cup - Kimberley - Day 3

Kimberley is blowing up! The street guys finally got their chance to shine and they went nuts! I have never seen so much quality skating in such a short time span. Just when you thought it could not get any better, the Vert dudes start hitting the mini Mega Ramp. In quite windy and tricky conditions they were still getting 30ft of air over the kicker, but the 20ft Quarter Pipe is what blew me away. Guys were slamming from 30ft up, dusting themselves off and throwing it down again. Looking forward to the street finals today and the best trick on the Mega Ramp, before the long drive back to Cape Town.

Maloof Money Cup - Kimberley - Day 2

Another day of insane skating in the heart of the Northern Cape. The street skating got underway and much of the talk is about Moses, who has been caning the course in practice. Look out for his antics on the big down rail in the video. The Vert guys went absolutely mental and I think most of us here were totally blown away. I have never seen anything like it with my own eyes and the crowd was eating it up. Today sees Street qualifiers for the Finals tomorrow and of course the "Mega Ramp" - which is probably the thing I am most amped for! Come back tomorrow for some more Maloof Money Cup video!

Maloof Money Cup - Kimberley - Day 1

After a long days driving!

 Ok, first off, Kimberley is bloody miles away from Cape Town. Hours of hot dry arid road took its toll and the gazillion road works stops did not help things. But, when we got to Kimberley, unloaded the car, set up our camp, unloaded beer into our faces and walked across to the new Maloof Park - well, my jaw dropped! The plaza itself in super impressive, the big air looks scary, but it was the ginormous Vert Ramp that caught my attention the most! The thing looks like a small building!

Dudes were blowing the Vert ramp up!

We got to catch the Pros during their practice session and it was the best skating I have seen in my life. I cannot wait for the actual Vert comp. After shooting what you can see in the video below, we got smashed, tore up Kimberley and passed out hard - hey we hanging with Skaters, its how they roll!

Door 33 - Quiksilver build Skate Heaven

Looks like Quiksilver are building the total skate park somewhere in the USA. Indoors, everything from street, bowl and vert. Check out some of their top skaters charging the half built park. Now if only we could get a park like this in Cape Town!
