It is that time of the year again, when the Wavescape Film festival hits Cape Town, starting with their awesome cinema night on Clifton Beach. Every year the Festival shows the best and latest in surfing cinema, with both traditional surf films for amping you up, as well as hard hitting documentaries and short films. I will be previewing some of the movies over the next few weeks and you can win tickets (See below) to the Festival to come watch the movies you want to see.

Riding Giants. It offered an incredible insight into the world of big wave surfing and the dudes who willingly put themselves in the shit. Cinematography was ahead of its time and it brought together some of the pioneers of our sport, RAD movie!
ReplyDeleteSipping Jetstreams (1) - Every time I watch it, it gives me the inspiration to go explore and surf as much as possible. The way in which it is filmed is awesome! It also egged me on to go check out Morocco, which was such an awesome surf trip!
ReplyDeleteA Brokedown Melody. I love it because it explores the travels of an awesome tribe of surfers who search for the spark of life. It's gentle and beautiful and has an AWESOME soundtrack. It's totally mellow and perfect to watch on a Sunday after a heavy weekend. It chills me out every time. South America, Polynesia and Jamaica, documenting Kelly Slater, Jack Johnson, Gerry Lopez, Rob Machado and the Malloys.
ReplyDeleteBra Boys! Those okes are absolutely mental and the scene where "causing trouble" is playing is possibly the best scene of any movie, ever! They are completely fearless & reckless & it makes for great viewing.
ReplyDeleteIf there is anyone who has not seen it then quit your job, drop what your doing and make a plan!
I have high hopes for Fighting Fear coming out soon because Bra Boys was so epic.
